Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is essential for your child's learning, development, and wellbeing. This policy sets out our expectations and procedures for attendance.
Policy Statement
At Living Heritage Nursery, we recognise that regular attendance is essential for children's learning, development, and overall wellbeing. We work in partnership with parents to encourage good attendance habits from an early age.
Expectations
- Children are expected to attend on their agreed days and sessions
- Parents should notify the nursery if their child will be absent
- Consistent unexplained absences may result in the nursery following up
- If a child is absent for 14 consecutive days without notification, the place may be reviewed
Illness & Absence
- Parents must inform the nursery on the first day of absence
- Children should not attend if they have a high temperature, vomiting, or diarrhoea
- Children must be symptom-free for 48 hours before returning after illness
- The nursery may request medical evidence for prolonged absences
Holidays During Term Time
We do not encourage holidays during term time as they disrupt learning. If holidays are taken, fees are still payable and funded hours are not reclaimable.
Late Collection
- Parents are expected to collect their child at the agreed time
- Late collection may incur additional charges
- Persistent late collection will be discussed with parents
- If a child is not collected within 30 minutes of closing, the nursery will contact emergency contacts and, if necessary, the police
Monitoring & Review
Attendance records are monitored regularly. The nursery will contact parents if attendance patterns are a cause for concern.
This policy was effective April 2026 and is due for review by April 2027. All policies are reviewed annually or sooner if statutory guidance changes.
