Allegations Against Staff Policy
We take all allegations against staff seriously and follow strict procedures to protect children and ensure fair treatment.
Policy Statement
Living Heritage Nursery is committed to ensuring that all allegations against staff are handled appropriately, fairly, and in accordance with statutory guidance including Working Together to Safeguard Children and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Reporting an Allegation
- Any allegation or concern about a member of staff should be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) immediately
- If the DSL is the subject of the allegation, report directly to the Nursery Manager
- Concerns should be recorded in writing with dates, times, and details
LADO Referral
- The DSL will inform the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) within one working day of any allegation
- The LADO will advise on the appropriate course of action
- All communications regarding the allegation will go through the LADO
Suspension & Investigation
- The staff member may be suspended pending investigation
- An internal investigation will be conducted in line with disciplinary procedures
- The staff member will be kept informed and offered support throughout the process
Informing Parents
- Parents will be informed of the allegation unless doing so puts the child at further risk
- Information shared will be appropriate and necessary
- Parents will be updated on the outcome where possible
Record Keeping
All allegations and the outcomes of investigations are recorded securely. Records are retained in line with statutory requirements and are subject to strict confidentiality.
Monitoring & Review
This policy is reviewed annually and updated in line with statutory guidance.
This policy was effective April 2026 and is due for review by April 2027. All policies are reviewed annually or sooner if statutory guidance changes.
